Iconoclastic collaboration

Finnish textile and clothing design company Marimekko inked the agreement to license its emblematic patterns to Converse’s womens collection for SS11. Converse ♥ Marimekko will feature Converse’s iconic shoe silhouette, and will be decorated with Marimekko designs such as ‘Tarha’ and ‘Pikkusuomu’ by Annika Rimala, and ‘Kirppu’ by Maija and Kristina Isola.

The shoes will be sold globally from February 2011 onwards at selected Converse and Marimekko stores and selected retailers. To illustrate the timeless spirit of both brands, a short film is made to tell the story of the collaboration between the two companies. The film's soundtrack features tracks by Finnish music artists Husky Rescue and Uusi Fantasia.
