Which fashion brand has the most Twitter followers? Having launched the Facebook Fashion Index last week, FashionUnited has now published the interactive Fashion Twitter Index. Together these indices show the "social success" of a fashion brand.



The Twitter list is led by Threadless with over 1.6 million fans and closely followed by Toms with well over 800.000 followers. Yves Saint Laurent, Burberry and H&M are all in the top five with over 500.000 followers each, whilst from rank 60 onwards, brands have 10.000 followers or less.

There is a big difference between the brands in the Facebook and Twitter index. What is the difference between the two user groups? In following articles about the position of social media activity in fashion, the answer to this type of question will be found.

In the combined index (non weighted) the Top 5 would be Burberry, H&M, Lacoste, Victoria's Secret and Adidas. These fashion campanies have the best average performance in both social networks.

From immediate effect, this FashionUnited Twitter Index will be maintained carefully and fashion brands will be added in order to be able to generate a top 1000 list. Furthermore, FashionUnited will also follow and report on the social media campaigns and other ‘social activities’ undertaken by the brands in this index.
