Melissa Beckley opening Soho pop-up shop

Apparently it’s National Announce You’re Opening a Store in Soho Day, because, in addition to Jeffrey Rudes, who has announced the launch of his new line Jeffrey Rüdes which will open its first location at 57 Greene Street, Melissa Beckley has announced that she has a pop-up shop coming to Soho on 85 Mercer Street. Similar to Rudes, Beckley is also making a triumphant return to the retail world.
Last January, Beckley closed the Los Angeles boutique bearing her name, after having closed her Las Vegas boutique two years earlier. The pop-up shop, set to open April 15th, will carry her contemporary sportswear, in addition to denim from Baldwin, jewelry by Tarin Thomas, and handbags from Shaffer. What makes this store unique is that all the items are made in the U.S.A.
“We wanted things that were made in L.A. or made in New York,” Beckley said to Women’s Wear Daily. “Making things in the U.S. is a big part of who I am and how I shop.” With athletic wear becoming such a big part of the fashion market in 2015, Beckley couldn’t have selected a better time to make a comeback. While this pop-up will only be open for 11 days, it could inspire Beckley to maybe do something a little more permanent again. We’ll just have to wait and see.
