Margaret O'Leary opens second location in Soho

Those coveting Scottish cashmere can now head over to Soho, 325 Bleeker Street to be precise, because that is the new location of Margaret O’Leary’s new store. The California-based designer has a second shop coming to big apple that will be open on Thursday, February 26th, 2015 Women’s Wear Daily has reported. The designer previously opened her first location in NYC in Nolita on 279 Mott Street.
The up and coming designer seems poised to make a name for herself on the East Coast, all by opening up all the proper stores in lower Manhattan. While the new space is very tiny (only 450 square feet) it will only be carrying sweaters. No matter, though, because that is what O’Leary is known for, so, what better item to cram into a 450 square foot lower Manhattan retail space. Despite the space only being 450 square feet projected sales are still 1 million dollars for the year.
With your average sweater ranging from 158 dollars to 330 dollars that’s not too farfetched a goal though, and O’Leary has made sure that she’s in prime retail real estate. While New York might be the fashion capital of the U.S., location is still everything. The designer already has ten locations in California, including boutiques in Berkeley, Santa Monica, and one coming to Palo Alto at the Town & Country Mall on April 1st.
Aside from her ever expanding presence in California and her slowly expanding presence in NYC, O’Leary also has her eyes set on expanding in Boston and Chicago. O’Leary has certainly come a long way from the young lady making knitwear in her San Francisco apartment who managed to get the attention of Barneys. Her label will be one to watch in 2015 as she continues to expand, and could be one of the most coveted sweater brands of 2015.
