Los Angeles-based label Johnny Was just announced extensive plans to grow in 2018. The bohemian brand has confirmed that it will be opening ten more stores for next year.

The business, which was established in 1987, has emerged so far as a family-owned company. The womenswear label appeals to customers attracted to a modern, California-influenced lifestyle aesthetic. This last year, Johnny Was opened up ten stores, including a seasonal location in Southampton, according to WWD. These store openings bring the company's total to about 28 locations with about 250 employees currently. The contemporary brand is planning to open ten more stores in 2018, bringing the total store count to 38.

Rob Trauber, chief executive officer of the company, is leading the label's retail plans for the next year. “We’re an emerging brand that has a big base," he told WWD. "People know us from the years of seeing us in specialty stores and Neiman Marcus, but we haven’t had the breadth of stores ourselves or a lot of marketing behind the brand.” In the past, he worked as president of Trina Turk, CFO and COO of Juicy Couture, and COO and CFO of Liz Claiborne and Fifth & Pacific, according to his LinkedIn page. In these new retail endeavors, Trauber may be able to bring Johnny Was to the next level.
