It seems that the trend of discount, off-price retailing is emerging this year. In 2017, fast-fashion retailer Forever 21, is continuing its expansion of F21 RED.

F21 RED represents the brand’s clothing at a discounted price in comparison to Forever 21’s pricing. This year, the subset brand is planning to open over forty new retail locations across the U.S. The first three stores are set to open in April including key cities such as Chicago, Illinois; San Antonio, Texas; and Bronx, New York.

Throughout the rest of the year, new locations will keep opening up in retail markets across the U.S. By the end of this year, more stores will be rolling out through the months to spread the F21 Red brand. "F21 RED expansion represents an important and exciting opportunity for our growth plan, and will allow us to bring a wide variety of product at competitive prices to new regional areas for our increasing customer base,” Chang said in a statement. In total, Forever 21 hopes to open over 70 F21 RED locations by the end of 2017.

"We are excited to announce that we will be growing F21 RED's presence in 2017," Linda Chang, VP of merchandising at Forever 21, said in a statement. F21 RED is known for retailing affordable basics including basic t-shirts, jeans, camisoles and more. While Forever 21 already offers some apparel at lower prices, the F21 Red stores focuses more on basic apparel options. The line already has locations in San Diego, Brooklyn, and Kendall in Florida. The stores typically range at 20,000 to 35,000 square feet, which is usually smaller than its big sister counterpart.

Aside from differing in price, F21 Red also varies in style with its apparel. Instead of ranging from chic, edgy, and contemporary mass styles at Forever 21, F21 Red offers tank dresses, v-necks, pencil skirts, and less frilly options. Prices range approximately from 1.90 dollars to 7.90 dollars. By expanding their growth, the chain aims to create a more convenient shopping experience including various staples from Forever 21 and its sub-brands as well.
