Emilia Fabricant in as EVP, President of North America

Emilia Fabricant will be joining Kate Spade as EVP, President of North America effective next Monday, June 29. In her new role, Fabricant will be in charge of the company's North American business with responsibilities across all of their channels. She will report to CEO Craig A. Leavitt.

Fabricant's most prior role to this was at Aeropostale Inc., where she oversaw design and merchandising across all divisions and served as president of GoJane.com. Earlier in her career, she was president of Bebe Stores Inc., she has also served as president and chief merchandising officer of Charlotte Russe Inc. Fabricant even founded her own company, Cadeau Maternity, and served as president and chief merchandising officer of eStyle Inc. after its acquisition of Cadeau.

Fabricant first began her career with Barney's New York, where she rose through the ranks until she became Senior Vice President, women's Co Op and Outlet division. On Fabricant's new role, Leavitt said in a statement, "Emilia’s combination of experience with luxury retailers, mall-based retailers and online businesses makes her an excellent fit for our team. She will bring valuable leadership and perspective as we continue to focus on our channel-agnostic approach and on fulfilling our lifestyle vision to drive profitability. As our business continues to expand across our four category pillars – women’s, men’s, children’s and home – Emilia will play a central role in overseeing all aspects of our distribution channels in North America.”

Given her wide depth of experience, Fabricant seems like the perfect person to help Kate Spade trend towards success. With the announcement of Kate Spade Saturday folding earlier this year and their merchandise being fused into Kate Spade New York stores, Fabricant could have a very interesting task ahead of her. Certain business operations have winded down at the brand, but, Fabricant could still be poised to do some major things to help Kate Spade rebound to the top of the fashion market.
