Known for its intricate courses in fashion, design, media, and more; the Art Institute system of schools just recently announced a new program entitled College Bound. The new program allows high school juniors and seniors to experience college-level design and fashion classes at the campuses.

The program is designed to allow younger potential students to experience a college setting, classroom, and coursework in their desired career of interest. In order to allow the youth to gain a perspective and experience that college has, the college has decided to open up these courses. “[The program] provides insight into how an engaging creative education can lead to a future in the design, media, [and] fashion [industries],” said Tim Moscato, chief operating officer of the Art Institutes. The Art Institute offers these courses that will focus on various creative studies. Fashion and design are two of the types of courses offered for the high school seniors and juniors. Other courses include culinary arts and media. The classes are offered on Saturdays during the school year and are non-credit bearing. ““It’s excellent preparation for the next step in their [education],” said Moscato. The College Bound program will debut in October of this year.

The new program will be available at several locations across the United States including Texas, Colorado, Oregon, Georgia, and more. Six California cities are participating in the program including the Art Institute of Hollywood, Los Angeles, San Diego, San Francisco, and Sacramento. In 2012, the eight Art Institute schools in California combined to create a single college of art of design within Argosy University known as the College of Creative Arts and Design. The Art Institute, which was founded in 1969, is a system of over 50 schools throughout North America. Headquartered in Pittsburgh, the institutes offer programs and credentials that vary by school. Their institutions offer master’s, bachelor’s and associate’s degree programs providing an important source of fashion, design, culinary, and media academia.
