American Eagle has long been known as a trendy teen retailer, but, now, they are expanding their philanthropic efforts. The company has partnered with State Bags on a program to help provide 20,000 backpacks to students in need across 20 communities in the United States. State Bags has agreed to donate one bag to a child in need for every bag purchased at an American Eagle store from now through October 10.

“Every child should start the school year with the essential tools for success. [This] can help level the playing field,” Jacqueline and Scot Tatelman, founders of State Bags, said in a statement. The efforts to help school children in need don't stop there either. Store associates at American Eagle are donating thousands of school supplies to stuff into the backpacks.

American Eagle customers who want to go the extra mile in their own efforts to support education by donating to Teach for America, an organization that promotes educational quality and excellence, when they checkout at the cash registers. American Eagle has committed to matching the donations up to 100,000 dollars.
