Retro hip-hop group Run-DMC recently has taken legal matters into their own hands regarding their brand. The renown musical group just filed a 50 million dollar lawsuit against two businesses for trademark infringement.

The legal filing was made in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, reported by TMZ. The suit claims that the products “confuse the public and suggest that Run-DMC endorses the products,” according to WWD. So far, Walmart and Amazon have not released a public statement on this.

Over the years, businesses such as Walmart and Amazon have sold merchandise resembling the famous Run-DMC logo. The logo typically includes white block text in all caps reading “RUN DMC” in-between two red lines. The e-commerce fulfillment service and discount retailer have sold multiple tees over the years resembling the same design style. The merchandise reflecting Run DMC also included hats, patches, sunglasses, and wallets. As reported by the NY Times, the lawsuit claims the sellers are “trading on the good will” of the Run-DMC name.
