Shopping platform giant Shopify recently just made some changes to their internal staff. The e-commerce site acquired product design and software development company Boltmade Inc. in an attempt to boost its overall business.

Boltmade’s websites states the acquisition was made to help bolster another facet of Shopify. “We’re excited to be joining Shopify’s enterprise offering, Shopify Plus,” the website reads. According to a statement released by Shopify, the acquisition is supposed to help with more product offering. Shopify already offers various products, while Shopify Plus offers “high growth, high-volume merchants a cloud-based, fully hosted enterprise commerce platform,” according to Shopify's website. In the merge, Boltmade’s designers and engineers will be brought in-house “We’re thrilled to have them join our team to help shape the future of commerce for larger merchants,” Loren Padelford, vice president of Shopify Plus, said in a statement.

As Shopify has already established itself as a platform to help small and medium-sized business, Shopify Plus will be a way for the company to expand and build its business. Approximately, Shopify currently powers more than 300,000 businesses internationally. Brands that Shopify represents includes Kylie Jenner, Red Bull, GE, and more.
