Fashion manufacturers in New York City’s five boroughs looking to grow their business should take note. The application for the sixth round of the Fashion Manufacturing Initiative (FMI) Grant Fund is now open.

The FMI Grant Fund, in partnership with the New York City Economic Development Corporation, is a partially matching grant fund that allows fashion manufacturing facilities to grow through the acquisition of advanced technology, innovative equipment and software, workforce training, business consulting services, as well as select relocation costs and capital improvements.

Since 2013, the FMI Grant Fund has awarded $2.8 million in grants to 25 manufacturers. The grants and matching recipient investments, totaling $4.7 million, have facilitated cutting edge and innovative acquisitions, including 3D design software, thermal bonding machinery and body scanning technology.

Along with the the NYCEDC, FMI is generously supported by founding partner Andrew Rosen and Theory, and premier underwriters Ralph Lauren and the Coach Foundation. Other past and current partners include the American Apparel & Footwear Association, Banana Republic, Barneys New York, Bloomingdales, DHL, Google, Lisa Perry, Macy’s, Pokémon, Premiere Vision and Rag & Bone.

To apply, please complete the written application by September 4, 2018. Semi-finalists will be notified mid-September.
